i quit my job today


i have a small crescent scar
on the tip of my chin where the moon
high fived me as i jumped from the plane
into the wide dark sky
cold with unbreathed air

we danced. the moon and i.
her double pronged horns
sharp in my hands.
and for a moment
i owned the swirl of my dress,
my curved smile.
for a moment i was free

confident the next layer of clouds
will catch me,
that i won't fall through
to dirt-touching-you-poverty
worn like a great gray overcoat
of coastal fog

so tell houston
i'm headed in
