arguing with freud

"we are never so helplessly unhappy as when we lose love."
-- Freud

good old freud.
he had it all figured out
except I would take
the despair of lost love
over the 3am, code don't work,
blues

and I know it was my fault,
I forgot the first rule of realtime,
never trust a counter
cuz they change behind your back.

and not the wet newspaper pile
of an unfamiliar operating system
that doesn't even give a satisfying thunk
when you beat your head against it

this is the music
programmers dance to
alone in dark parking lots
